Hi everyone, here's why we keep shrimp - because they're both interesting and entertaining!

I do apologize to those with slow internet speed; hopefully it loads for you while you go grab a cup of coffee...

Catcher sez: "Aye batter batter batter - SWING!"

Shrimp chiropractor: Just go ahead and walk all over me why don't you?

Rome was not built in a day - but it was cleaned in a day; thanks to the Shrimpinators.

Don't forget to pay the cleanup crew on your way out.

This is nice, the shrimps are living up to their reputation --- algae cleaner crew. :)

How long they take to clean the algae up? What shrimps are those?

Coral!... won't it raise the PH up? The shrimps fine with high PH?

Thanks for your kind replies and your patience with the load time. No crashed computers? I'm glad I didn't post this just before this site went down or I would have thought it was me that messed it up! :p

Fruitpie, the algae cleaning crew are juvie Red Cherries, but there is one adult male in there also that you might be able to spot. He's colorless like most of the juvies, but is twice as large. He's in both algae cleaning gifs - stare near the top and you should see him. Kind of like a "Where's Waldo?" game. :D

I guess the cleaning takes about 3 hours from start to finish. When I first put the algae-covered decoration in, it takes a while for all of them to realize it's feeding time. But once there's a big group, the cleaning picks up a lot of steam and gets done quickly.

Dom, that is fake coral! :antlers: I have 3 identical ones I use to grow algae on. It provides a great surface for both the algae and little shrimp feet.

I saw these videos and placed an algae covered rock from another tank into my new shrimp tank. In half a day, all of the algae was scrubbed clean. Now I have a new way to clean decorations from my fish tanks! Thanks for sharing these.

Hey YuccaPatrol, I sometimes actually wish the algae would grow faster, as I still look forward to my decorations getting covered enough, so my shrimp can finally have their great snack :) .

Glad many of you enjoyed the animated gifs. I'm leaving another one, although I wish I had used a tripod. It's kinda wiggly, so don't get seasick :D .

"We want fit shrimp, not fat shrimp. So, all you shrimpies out there - get to work on your abs of steel! A-one and-a-two and-a-three and-a-four!" :Mr-T:

lol Nice caption, GB! BTW, I would've just as much figured that it wasn't human error on the movement of the ani-gif and instead are pix taken on the outflow of a canister filter moving the plants and shrimp. lol Keep the ani-gif's coming. They're great to watch.

Gunmetalblue:

I have 3 frames of a shrimp doing that little dance that were taken with a tripod. If you want, you can animate them.

Ummm, yeah ... I meant to do that! :clown: :joking:

YuccaPatrol, hehe, here's your exercising RCS! She's one seriously fit little shrimpie there. Hope you won't mind but I lightened it a bit so we could see it better, and also, reduced image size so it wouldn't take so long to load. The shadow on the leaf just under her is pretty cool. Feel free to caption it if you wish :D lol . Meanwhile, here's my caption:

"Drats! After each pregnancy, it gets harder and harder to get my youthful figure back ... A-one and-a-two, A-one and-a two!"

Ha! I love it! Thanks GunmetalBlue. :D :D :D

I'll delete my big images in the post above so they don't dominate your awesome animations!

Odd. . . I can't edit an old post but can edit a new one?
