Hi all, Anyone here have oil on their tank water surface?:huh: I dont know what is the causes of it. I always wash my have with before I have my hand into the tank. Is it harmful to my shrimps:huh: I have shrimps die once in awhile. Hope that its not the oil that cause it. Do advise or share. Thanks

not to worry
its a layer of protein cause by plants that give them out
it looks like an layer of oil
get some floating plants and that should solve your problem
it isnt harmful to shrimps

Thanks pal. I do not have such oil in my old tnk. So was wondering what is it? Ha Ha... Can have good sleep now. Learn another lesson... Thanks again.

i read somewhere it's called biofilm where a bacteria gather to form slimy like appearance?!

Hi there, so is it harmful to the shrimps? Or it wont harm them. Just another bacteria....

The biofilm itself is not dangerous.
When the surface is totally closed there is no/not enough gas exchange what can cause problems.
