I have this plant friendly snail in my tank, the only thing is that we are not being able to ID it.

Please chip in experts.

Yes it does look similar but,
1. It is broader with a sharper cone
2. It is not breeding in my tank (had 3 of these for 3 months and no babies)
3. cleans fixtures and leaves of algae like it has been scrubbed clean using soap and water.
4. does not burrow.

yup found in streams in north east India. but nothing else known I received these with a shipment of native fish and just love them

ok another point the dark reddish brown variety has a yellow body

it's either some type of melania snail aka melanoides sp. or Sulcospira sp., not all aquatic snails are able to reproduce by parthenogenesis or by cloning themselves. rather there are multiple species that actually require a male and a female in order to breed, this could cove part of the reason as to why they are not breeding, or like the case of tylo snails they must reach around 1-3 years of maturity depending on the species in order to be sexually mature. that being said this and having both genders could be the case or either one.
