Hi there. My city decided to change their water supply because of costs.
The new ph is 7.9 and the water hardness is 200ppm. Is this okay to breed CRS? what water hardness would you recommend?

How do I lower my water hardness?

Thanks

200ppm is a measurement of KH, GH or TDS?

If the former 2, it is on the high side, that about 10degree hardness.

You can mix with RO water to lower KH and GH, but TDS of 200ppm is perfectly fine.

Well the water report from the city says total hardness. It does not say if it is GH, KH or TDS. I am assuming it is GH...

What would an ideal GH be for CRS?

Thanks

4 to 6 dH is good.

PPM is often refered to as TDS (Total dissolved solid). Your TDS between 150-220 is good for CRS. You have 200, so you're good.
