I have been inspecting my shrimp periodically in my RCS tank for mutations in color. I have a pretty good colony in there, but I took out about 100 to inspect under a light and a white background and what immediately caught my eye was a dark blue shrimp with speckled red shell. Looking closer I found about 7 in varying shades of the same blue mixed in with their red shells.

Here are some unaltered pics, wish I had a macro lens for my Nikon and knew how to better use it :( but you can see the blue still. And if you cant see it with the pictures just believe me lol OR correct me if I am wrong.

Even though I could just go buy some blue neos somewhere I would love to create my own blue stock (Im a senior in college studying molecular bio and genetics so it interests me to experiment like this lol)

These do pop up in colonies and are worth trying to get a nice comply color out of them or better yet work for a purple color!

These are popping out of chocolate colonies as well and those are being worked on as well!

Thanks!

I am going to need to do some research on successful selective breeding methods for Neos to get a true breeding strain (if there are any other tips), that way I can speed up the application of my knowledge of genetics to it.

I've had a couple of these pop up, they tend to turn blue-ish when stressed.

Do they breed true?
