• Atyopsis moluccensis (Fan Shrimp)

English name: Wood Shrimp, Bamboo Shrimp, Fan Shrimp
    Scientific name: Atyopsis moluccensis
    Origin: Asia
    Size male/female: 10 cm / 7 cm or inch 3.9 / 2.7 inch
    Water temperature: 23 - 28 C or 73 - 82 F
    Water Parameters: pH 6.5 - 7.5
High or low breeding form: low
    Behaviour: non-agressive
    Difficulty: easy
Description: The body has brown stripes with a white backstripe. They can turn reddish sometimes. With the fan-shaped arms this shrimp is catching small food.
Males have a bigger first pair of legs.
My experience on this species: They take place in the hardest water flow. Such places for them can be arranged with driftwood, stones or plants.
Remarks: They also need hiding places for molting. If there is not enough food for the shrimps to catch, they are going to search for it on the ground.
Tolerates a wide range of water parameteres. Tank size at least 12 gallons (about 50 Liter). Fan shrimps can get over 5 years old.
