Yamato shrimps are a very hard working algae cleaning crew. This shrimp is very tolerant when it comes to water type, they can live in water of different salinity nad degree of hardness. Although it is one of most hardiest Carindina shrimp I ever find, it make no exception to tolerate low level of ammonia/ammonium and heavy metals like all other shrimps.

Larvaes are not able to develop in freshwater tank, they need certain level of salinity. However, it is reported that a few hobbyists found small number offsprings of Yamato shrimps in their planted tank.

The above photo is supplied by Daniel Kwok showing mating moment of a male and female Yamato Shrimps.
