English name: Golden Crystal Red Shrimp, Snow White, Bone CRS
Scientific name: Caridina cf. cantonensis sp. "Golden CRS"
Origin: Unknown
Size male/female: 2.5 cm or 1 inch
Water temperature: 20 - 26 °C
Water Parameters: pH 6.0 - 7.0
High or low breeding form: high
Behaviour: non-agressive
Difficulty: medium
Description:
The origin of this variation of Crystal Red Shrimps remain a myth. It readily cross with CRS, golden form is recessive. There are 2 variation of golden CRS, the yellowish/pinkish form, often called as Golden and the whiter form is known as Snow White. Blue-ish form is also available through crossing with black diamond shrimps.
My experience on this species:
It is not easy to breed out thick color specimens. [As of 30th Apr 2007, obseleted]
After 1 and 1/2 year, breeding out thick color can be achieve quite easily through selective breeding and crossing of CRS or Black Diamond shrimp.
A golden CRS tends to contain red genes, while a snow white tends to contain black genes. Some may even appear pinkish, which has strong red genes of a CRS.
Golden CRS and Snow white are often used to improve pattern of CRS.
A good grade Golden CRS:
